Encouragement

When your thoughts and your flesh start to get the best of you, just a little encouragement means the world. And the Lord gives you doses of it at just the right times.

We recently lost our soccer game against Moody 10-0. I am going to step on my soapbox for just a second and say that I very much dislike it when coaches beat teams 10-0 and don't even allow you to finish the game...and I'm off. So you can imagine we were pretty down after a loss like that for our first game of the season. And then the flood gates open in my mind - thoughts like...It is going to be impossible to build a program here in Woodlawn. What am I doing here? We just don't have the resources and interest like other teams...and then the Lord steps  in and gives me encouragement through his word and through others.

And it builds you back up. And it reminds you that you are doing what you are supposed to be doing. And that it's not in vain. And that it's not about the wins anyways. It's about Him and his kingdom. I read a devotional a couple of months ago and it reminded me to make sure we are buiding temples and not towers and all the glory goes to God.

Galatians 5:7-8 says, "You were running a good race. Who cut in on you and kept you from obeying the truth? That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you."

The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy our passion, our dreams, and our plans. Don't let him cut in on your race. Remember who's child you are. Remember you are a vessel of our mighty Lord and if He is for us, who can be against us?

"But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." Philippians 3:13-14.

Press on friends. And make sure you are encouraging others. A simple word of encouragement could be what gets someone back on track for His kingdom :)

  1. Nice. Blog . Tell your young men to keep their heads up. We all get blown out from time to time (ref the Saints, Duke, and Alabama, all National Champions last year and all suffered heartbreaking losses this year ) so it's not so important that it has happened, but what is important is how we respond. If they can pull together as a team and learn from this loss then they truly will also be champions. Go Woodlawn !
